Memorial Day falls on the last Monday of May and is a day when the residents of the USA honor the memory of men and women who lost their lives while serving in the military. Traditionally, in all states, including New Jersey, this day is marked with various events, parades, and memorial practices. People visit cemeteries where soldiers are buried, and at 3 pm, a moment of silence is observed to honor those who died in war.

Since most educational institutions go on summer break at the end of May and the weather grows warm, the three-day weekend is also considered the unofficial start of summer. To mark this, cities organize a wide array of entertainment events.
