On August 10, the festivities kick off at 10:30 am with the blessing of the votive "cuddure," bread donuts offered to San Sebastiano, and laurel, reminiscent of the sacred laurel forest of Adonis where the saint was martyred. At 1 pm, the evocative "sciuta" begins, as the statue of San Sebastiano and his relic are carried on bare shoulders amidst the firing of firecrackers and the release of thousands of "nsareddi," multicolored paper strips. This procession is accompanied by bands and followed by barefoot women and thousands of devotees, with newborns and children stripped and offered to the saint. At 2 pm, the exciting "Catena Umana" takes place along the climb of Via Fiume Grande. This activity involves a large number of participants who form a human chain, linking arms and working together to pull the heavy cart carrying the statue of San Sebastiano up the challenging incline. The evening continues with a procession and musical show at 8:30 pm, culminating in a spectacular pyro-musical display at midnight.
