History of the Festival

The California Roots Festival started in 2010 as a one-day event and has grown into one of America's largest reggae festivals. It is considered more of a movement than just a simple music festival, for it delivers a multi-layered experience for music lovers. Monterey County Fairgrounds roots back to some stories. There, Jimi Hendrix set his guitar on fire during the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967, changing the whole generation's view on music festivals and life as it was.
